bonnet tiles

A bonnet or hip tile is a decorative roof tile that runs down the roof on a hip end. They are installed to give a decorative finish and are normally mortared in place and secured with a nail (see the hole at the top of the tile)

The roofer normally uses a trowel to seal the underside of the bonnet tile with mortar to fill any gaps or cracks. Several bonnet hip tiles lay staggered on top of one another down the hip normally to give a nice decorative finish
